Horizon Health is a Critical Access, Rural Health Facility comprised of 25-inpatient beds located in Paris, IL & a multitude of outpatient clinic settings including Family Practice and Specialty Clinics in Paris and surrounding cities. Position Summary:

Under the guidance of the Manager of the Education Department, will help provide educational support for Nursing and Patient Care Services. Will collaborate with nursing leadership and staff across departments to assess, plan, develop, implement, facilitate, evaluate and revise educational programming for all levels of nursing personnel and non-nursing personnel as indicated or requested. This position is a key resource for orientation and continuing education of hospital staff including community outreach educational programs. Position will require development and implementation of comprehensive education for hospital programs, service lines, units and clinics. Educational programs typically include, but are not limited to orientation, continuing education and in-services. Other services may include, but are not limited to process, performance and contributions to the organization through ad-hoc or permanently established councils, committees and workgroups.

 

Essential Functions (Responsibilities/Accountabilities):

  • Assist with educational needs assessment and develops an annual education plan
  • Assesses plans, develops, implements and evaluates comprehensive education and regulatory educational programs to meet the orientation and ongoing competency needs and professional development needs of nursing and non-nursing personnel with specific focus for his/her units/clinics. Incorporates principles of learning and utilizes evidence-based practice in the planning, development, implementation and evaluation of educational programs, courses and sessions
  • Collaborates with Education Manager to assist with organizing and leading new nursing orientation and new employee orientation
  • Develops/coordinates education plans related to initial and ongoing competency and validation of nursing staff
  • Provides educational opportunities for nurses at all stages of their career development
  • Teaches content as needed within clinical expertise to facilitate orientation, staff development and/or safe practices
  • Maintains flexibility in order to fill staffing gaps in work schedule. Supports staff by providing patient care by taking a patient assignment as needed under the direction of the Education Director and or Administration. 
  • Engages as an educator in area of clinical specialty on a local, state, or national level to determine trends in clinical education, practice and regulation related to staff including nursing specific.
  • Promotes and cultivates positive relationships with academic programs to foster positive image and relationships with Horizon Health
  • Accessible to support and to coordinate students and faculty from affiliating schools including but not limited to nursing programs, health occupation’s, etc.
  • Collaborates with Education Manager and or Administration for community program planning and implementation and evaluation in order to meet staff development and patient care needs
  • Encouraged to be an active member of city, regional, and/or national educational advisory groups under the direction of the Education Manger



The responsibilities listed above are not all-inclusive; other activities may be required ln support of the hospital's goals and objectives.



Position Requirements:

  • BSN required, MS degree preferred (Registered Nurse-RN)
  • Previous experience in coordinating and/or presenting education programs
  • Must be computer proficient
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Clinical Background includes acute care/hospital nursing experience
  • AHA BLS, ACLS, PALS instructor (preferred) but must obtain certification of each discipline within 3 months of hire
  • Flexible work schedule required under direction of the Education Manager. May be asked to work nights and weekends


Pay Rate:

Pay ranges from $26.688/hour to $42.740/hour for an RN (rate of pay is based on applicable years of experience)
